An INTP view of life: Part 3
ENFP: what if we press both the accelerator and the break at the same time?
INTP: the car takes a screenshot, you want to see?
ENFP: yes :)
ESTJ: Get the fuck out of my car, both of you.
....................................
INTJ: do you hate it that people are calling us the "sociopathic twins"?
INTP: Not really, it makes us seem even more unapproachable and intimidating. Look at the bright side, everyone will avoid us and leave us alone!!!
INTJ: that's true. I would actually prefer that. Look ENTP and ENTJ are fighting again, want some popcorn?
INTP: *HIGH FIVES*
....................................
ISFP: How do I tell my crush I like them?
INTP: is your crush someone you think is out of your league?
ISFP: yeah....I think so
INTP: don't worry, tell them you like them and if they turn you down I have booked flight tickets for you to move to another country.
ISFP:....should I not be worried?
....................................
ESTP: hey, I heard you are a chemistry student.
INTP: let me guess you are wondering if I have a meth lab in my basement
ESTP: Of course not, I am not accusing you of that!
INTP: *leans in* My prices are fixed, 50% off for a six months subscription.
ESTP: I like your attitude!

The reason Bunny gets a shit load of hate despite him being the only one who is NOT an accomplice to murder is because of one simple thing:
His personality.
That is the reason we can't feel bad for him. We as a society have considered Homophobia and sexism one of the worst things you can ever do. Which is true.
Murder is justified in certain situations, especially when it's in a fictional universe/story, not saying Bunny's death was justified, but we can excuse murder----even the law excuses murder at times. It's something grey and understandable in certain situations. We have liked; even loved characters who have killed others simply because it is in a fictional story.
The reason we draw the line at Bunny's behaviour is because, Homophobia, Racism, Sexism/Misogyny as well other forms of discrimination are NEVER excusable. When someone says a slur, you can't excuse that by comparing them in terms of morality with other characters. In modern society, we don't accept slurs and derogatory remarks.
Maybe in the 90's and 2000's when the book was new and fresh, people might not have cared about Bunny's behaviour much, maybe they even sympathize with him and loved him, because it was a DIFFERENT TIME back then. We cannot tolerate things like that anymore and it makes people harder to sympathize with Bunny.
Other than all that, Bunny is annoying a lot of the time. He is not the loveable goof he thinks he is. He scams his friends. He is cocky and arrogant. He is dumb and condescending. He says the worst things at wrong times. He puts people down. He pokes fun at others weaknesses. And the more you see of him the worse he gets. Even to the point you wish he dies.......
And he does. It's in his death that Bunny is more humanized, as most people are, in death.
And it is SOOO frustrating because he is the sanest person in the entire class. The most normal and least indoctrinated in those beliefs.
Bunny Corcoran is a character I wanted to like. But he kept getting on my nerves and I found others more interesting than him. And after reading the book several times I can appreciate him more. Although I don't agree with so many theories about him being a "good" person.
Bunny doesn't need to be good. He doesn't need anyone defending him. He doesn't need excuses for his personality. He is annoying, sometimes endearing; he makes your blood boil and he's still gone too soon. His death is a tragedy. He wanted to live. Forever.
Bunny is Bunny
You love, you hate him, or you don't care about him
His existence is necessary for the story and it's time we don't fight about if he was an angel or the devil
He was a person. A deeply flawed, complex person. And we should appreciate him just for that.

If INTP was in The Office:
INTP: My job as a sales person made me realise how much I hate people
(Looks sideways from camera at the cameraman)
INTP: I hate when people are prying into my life.....cuz guess what? I have nothing interesting in it....except Pam, Pam is awesome.
(Gets questioned if he likes Pam)
INTP: No, not really. I like her a lot, which is surprising since I don't like many people here *mouths Angela*
INTP: now Pam and I are good friends, I do believe she hates her fiance tho...but what can I do about it?
(Gets questioned about his work)
INTP: I come late everyday, Dwight is always mad at me being late, I don't care much. I check in my computer and play Pac man while talking to stupid clients like an idiot selling paper which won't be useful in a future paperless world.
INTP: then I take a 2 hour break and pretend to be friends with Micheal to justify my 2 hour break.
INTP: I have lunch in my car so I won't have to see Kevin eating 4 tuna sandwiches in one go.
INTP: I spend time with Toby, he is like the only normal person here. We sit down and mumble about our misery.
INTP: I hate Andy, he is so annoying, I have to hide in the bathroom to avoid his constant brags about Cornell. I mean I went to Yale, and now I am a paper salesman *shrugs* this is always how it ends.
(Gets questioned about Jim and Pam)
(Looks at the camera)
INTP: everyone knows they are in love. It's not even a question at this point.
*Dazai, Chuuya and Sigma on their way back to Japan*
Chuuya: what the fuck were you doing with that anemic son of bitch? Can't you stop flirting with ANYONE you see for five minutes?
Dazai, gasping: how could I ever cheat on you? I would never do that, I was only entertaining him for our plan to work~
Chuuya: AND WHY WERE YOU CONFESSING YOUR LOVE TO ME? THAT'S DISGUSTING. THAT'S SICK
Dazai: Chuuya....we are literally in a relationship
Chuuya: I never said I took you back since you left!
Dazai: then why do you get mad when I flirt with other people?
Chuuya: I feel bad for them. I pity them for dealing with you!!!
Dazai: you are breaking my heart right now Chuuya, have a little mercy~
Sigma, in a corner fiddling with his fingers: I wish I was still unconscious....
*Atsushi got drunk during a new year's party*
Atsushi: I have been here for some time now. And all this time I have been repressing my feelings to not hurt anyone. But I want to speak my mind today
Dazai: cheers! Atsushi-kun! Say whatever you want, no-one would stop you
Atsushi, coughs: ahem ahem...okay. Kunikida-San, you were a math teacher. BOOM ROASTED
Kunikida: *spit's his drink out*
Atsushi: Dazai-san, you have 1000 ex's, nobody wants to stay with you. BOOM ROASTED.
Dazai, chuckles: that was a good one
Atsushi: Chuuya-san, you are 5'3. BOOM ROASTED.
Chuuya: WHAT THE FUCK YOU SAID KID?
Dazai: this is hilarious
Atsushi: Akutagawa, you look like a malnourished Victorian child who likes hot-topic. BOOM ROASTED.
Akutagawa: Jinko, when I get to you!
Atsushi: Ranpo-san, you are a glorified man-child. BOOM ROASTED.
Ranpo, eating dino nuggies: I won't deny
Atsushi: Yosano-sensei....you literally save our lives, I can't say anything bad about you
Yosano: awwww
Chuuya: that's a bit unfair!
Atsushi: Poe-san, you are a simp. BOOM ROASTED.
Poe, watching everything hiding behind a door: y-you actually noticed me, I am flattered!
Atsushi, takes a deep breath: Fukuzawa-san....you spend most of the ADA budget on cat food. I actually agree with that.
Fukuzawa: *nods gravely*
Atsushi: and...Junichiro-kun....you and your sister....do I have to say it? You two are fuc---
Kunikida, drags Atsushi out of the room: that was enough drinking for you!!!!!
*the next morning*
Dazai: I didn't know you had all of this sass inside you!!! That was amazing. You should do it more~
Atsushi, horrified, hiding his face:......I SAID WHAT????
And not to forget Richard is looking back at his college years and the events were not happening at the same time. So it is possible the way he tells the story is to hide a lot of details, or maybe he just forgot all the details. The romanticized way he puts most things always felt to me like a bandage on a wound as if he was covering the darker parts of the story. Almost all the characters are gay to an extent, as if Donna was trying to just confuse us which I think fits for what the story is about. Personally I don't eaxctly ship any of them lol. Francis's sexuality was always considered by everyone as gay but it's not ever confirmed that he can bi or pan or something else.
I put the book down and put my hands on my mouth when we got the incest reveal, it made me....sick. It wasn't that shocking since Richard literally thought they were a couple before he was told they were twins. It was Charles's dark side reveal that shocked me and disgusted me more (thank god, Henry took her away from Charles at the right time). I also think the reason Charles was obsessed with Camilla might be because of the greek thing, maybe he took Julian's greek ideals to heart. I also think Henry and Camilla as a couple isn't really romantic (it could be seen as one) but it seemed quite mild incomparison to what others were up to.
This book is so messy. It keeps me up at night. The problem is I don't know anyone who has read it near me, so these hcs keep me alive.
So, for my sanity. Let me get this straight (lol); Henry was in love with Camilla and she was in love with him. And Richard was also in love with Camilla but she friendzoned him. Francis and Camilla had kissed (twice) and Charles was furious. Francis was flirting with Richard the entire time ( "cubitum eamus") Richard fantasized about spending his old years with Francis (and they kissed ofc). Richard also described Henry in a very no homo way. Francis and Charles were secretly hooking up. And so were Charles and Camilla (also, Charles was an abuser, why don't people talk about that more?). Richard described Camilla to look very masculine and like Charles to a tee, so he also liked Charles (?). Bunny was a huge homophobe, kinda sus; also had a strange interest in Henry. And Henry was probably in love with Julian (that little weird kiss mentioned ounce). I am a missing something?
Donna. Donna. Donna, what tf is this book is about?
I'll wait for your theory babe! 😍
This is all I got from my shallow reading, I picked up on the message about choosing your friend groups correctly when Richard decides to not be a part of Judy's clique.
This is something a lot of people struggle in school and college, in choosing the right people to be friends with.
CLEARLY Richard has more going on than he lets on, he is an unreliable narrator after all (I ounce made a post about how I think he made everything up)
However this post was about choosing the wrong people as friends and not about Richard's character as a whole (I tried to write an analysis but it's been in the drafts for months now 😀)
I loveee it when people discuss this book because there's just so much to make theories and views on. I change my opinions every time I read it, in fact.
No matter how much you talk about it, it's never enough.
The Greek Class didn't destroy Richard, he brought that on himself.
He chose to be destroyed and I am sure a part of him wanted to be.
He's the type of person who wants to be different, to be admired, to be apart from normal people.
That's why he tried to get in the Greek class in the first place even when Julian rejected him ounce, he wanted to be with the elites, to be exclusive.
Richard does show remorse for his actions at times but that doesn't mean he didn't find it thrilling.
He wanted an adventure, to see a tragedy, to be part of something dramatic and exciting. He was bored in his little town, around distant parents and normal friends.
He has always felt like he was above other people and he does look down on others who don't understand or follow his ideals.
His idolization of the Greek class is the reason he got destroyed, he was blinded by the opportunity to be included and accepted by them that he didn't look back at the mistakes he made for them.
Richard's story is a cautionary tale about foregoing your sanity and ethics for a broken, one sided friendship. They used him again and again, he did everything for them. Never questioning what he was really doing.
In the end, he was never a part of their group.
He was just there.
