Is it a safe space to say this ,,, Sol is the most nothing Warrior Cats character.
He was just there to pad for pages, until we finally got to the reveal. I wanted to smack him with toy hammers every time he showed up.
Our protagonists had much better things to do than stare at the silhouette of a guy on a hill who predicted one thing one time, and then just bloated the arc with his nonsense.
He was just a loser who knew nothing about the three's parentage, or their destiny.
And he sucked— and I think he's boring—
I know there are a ton of Holly fans in the fandom, but I honestly think Jaypaw's pov was the most interesting out of the sibling povs in Power of Three.
Holly is this sweet, kind-hearted cat whose very sincere intentions get her into trouble, Lion is beating the shit out of Ashfur in what is the most heel-turn, dramatic irony mentor-apprentice dynamic possible, and also bumming around with Heatherpaw and Breezepaw—
—and Jaypaw is just pulling quantam mechanic time-travel shit, and playing investigator throughout the whole arc and it's just such good writing. He was such a meddler, and his relationship with Leafpool was such a rug pull once you learn the twist.
Probably my favorite arc just because of how condensed it is, I went back and read it twice after I finished it just to pick up on all the foreshadowing. It's so good.
Has anyone else noticed the 'mid-arc' creep, in the books? Like, the arc will be really good, until part-way through at like, book three or four where it just starts getting bloated with unecessary filler to pad out a book or two before the finale?
I love my url sooooo much, but I also want to delete all my posts and pretend I was never here—
Not because of anything fandom related I just get in those moods where I want to delete stuff. And Idk.
I feel like this could be considered a cancellable offense on here—
Buuuut, in my opinion, Fireheart has waaaay more chemistry with Whitestorm than he does with either Sandstorm, or Graystripe.
I really hope the graphic novels continue to cut out all the unecessary bloat and plot contrivances left over from the original series.
For example, Fireheart saves Bramblekit from the fire, in the graphic novel, without hesitation— which is so refreshing.
I disliked that entire b-plot in the first arc where he's menaced by Tigerkit's oh-so-scary, 'amber eyes'— because it made zero sense, came out of nowhere, and was also, very dumb.
And while I'm sure Bramblekit will face some prejudice in the next graphic novel, with how well they've handled Cloudpaw and Cinderpelt, I think they'll manage to make it work.
Just saw a post on a confession blog that made me feel so validated about that post I made a day or so ago. Suddenly, my insecurities about how bad I am at writing are gone completely.
I feel totally vindicated. Like my post was worth it. What I wrote last night fucking sucked, so I deleted it (because I couldn't make it sound right), but I'm glad that at least something I wrote resonated with people and conveyed what I had to say.
I read through that confession, and I'm just like, 'This is a problem and I didn't blow it out of proportion.'
It's a good feeling.
There are people who are mean online, and who ruin the online experience for others.
So, here's my two cents.
>You can like Mapleshade, guilt-free.
>You can like Darkstripe, guilt-free.
>You can like Thistleclaw, guilt-free.
>You can like Rainflower, guilt-free.
You do not need to preface it with,
"But, I acknowledge that they're bad or abusive or xenophobic, or at fault,"
No.
You do not have to justify anything you feel about any character from a stupid cat book, ever. For any reason. Warrior Cats is not real. It says about as much about you that you like Thistleclaw as a shitty horoscope can say about your day.
Which, is to say, nothing, at all.
You can like a character because they're evil, or because you sympathize or relate to them, or because they stir the pot, etc. etc. Any reason that is your own is reason enough.
I see this a lot, so I want to say something about it. You don't need to add a disclaimer onto your opinions regarding antagonists.
When you say, "I like Tigerstar, even though he's xenophobic, and a facist,"
Try this instead, "I like Tigerstar," Then, list what you liked about him.
Heads up guys I might change my url / layout. But, if you're wondering who this is, it's still t46006476.
My biggest tumblr fear is making a sideblog and not knowing what to do with it. I just talk here. If I made a sideblog, it'd just be me talking somewhere else??
Ahhh, I can't decide.
Maybe it's a carry over from my time on Deviantart, but it stresses me out to not be able to sort my blog. Wdym I have to have my posts and reblogged posts in the same place?! That's absurd.
99% of my criticisms are not with the books, themselves, but rather, the fanbase. Which I feel is disproportionately filled with a loud, and angry majority who don't respect other people, and who take the books and their opinions on the books way too seriously.
I'm actually very excited about Swiftpaw and Longtail being brothers! They always had a sort of 'brotherly bond' dynamic in my eyes, so it's nice to see that being added in for the graphic novel adaptation. It just feels right.
This thread on Reddit about StarClan no longer being mysterious is so good!!
BTW, opinions on Warriors don't give you the right to make personal assumptions about other people (ex. them liking so-and-so character explains why I knew, from the start, that they were a bad person!!) and it doesn't give you a license to attack them, send them hate mail, or be a dick.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If their opinion is something you disagree with, then just save yourself the time and effort you'd spend arguing with them and just block them.
The is no 'winning' in an Internet argument and there is zero reason to start one.
Bigger clans suck, booo!!!! We don't need seventy-five cats in ThunderClan. Booo!!!!
If you view Warrior Cats as being human-like that's fine.
—But, I also disagree.
And I think you lose a lot of the value of reading a book series about cats by moralizing their society against human standards instead of enjoying the world building for what it is.
I never had an issue with 'age gaps' in Warriors because they're cats.
At no point in Warriors does anyone say, 'I think Onestar being mates with Whitetail is a symptom of a major issue in our society'.
—As it stands, the world building is that it's acceptable in their society.
The world building is that the cats are ok with it.
They are in no way analogous to real people unless you're looking to ignore the fact that the books are about cats and not people.
Ferncloud and Dustpelt, for instance, were thinking about being mates long before Fernpaw had even received her warrior name.
If you compare this to a human relationship, yes, that would absolutely not be ok. But, again, they're cats. They're not humans.
I'm just so taken aback.
It's like learning that someone compares the experiences of deaf children to Snowkit, as the correct context in which we should read his story.
And not, as a cat, being born with a defect that inhibits your ability to do the thing you were bred for— which is to contribute to a society that values rearing as many children as possible specifically to have soldiers to defend their territory, resources, and colony with.
Purposefully anthromorphisizing and decontextualizing the characters from the worldbuilding and context they were originally viewed in, in order to make an issue out of nothing is just— baffling to me.
Even with Snowkit, Brackenfur and Speckletail's messaging is not— Snowkit is a valuable member of our Clan, whether or not he can hear— It's 'I can personally train him to be a soldier so he can fulfill his societal role in ThunderClan'.
The cats of ThunderClan are at war. They are fighting not to starve, not to die.
Why would you remove the context of them being cats?
No one can curate your online experience for you. Only you can do that for yourself.
People can and will say things online about Warrior Cats that you will disagree with.
What you can't feasibly do is change their mind by arguing with them about it.
It's not your job to crusade against them and to tell them how wrong they are— You are not the end all, be all self-elected moral arbitrator of the fandom.
I can count on my hands and toes the amount of times I have strongly disagreed with another fan over their interpretation of the books—
I block them, and move on.
It's not a world ending scenario if someone on tumblr thinks Cinderpelt can't be a Warrior with her broken foot, or that Queens don't do anything but sit on their asses all day.
And it's also, not a personal attack against you, it's their opinion on a book series, devoid of any relation to you.
—You are not the center of their universe, their life does not revolve around yours, and Warriors is made-up! It's fake! Not real!
Put the phone or tablet or computer down and go outside. The Internet is not real life. And there is zero reason to treat it like it is.
To make my stance clear.
I don't think anyone should be able to decide, for someone else—
—What accessories are and are not allowed on a fictional cat they drew, what couples they are or are not allowed to ship, and whether or not their interpretation of the books is 'valid'.
No one— Not the creators of the franchise, and not other fans.
And if you think you should be able to decide that for someone else—
Then you're an asshole.
It seems like it's just a recent development in the fandom, but I've never thought mentor and apprentice couples were inappropriate.
Has the zeitgeist really shifted so much that any deviation from the norm can be considered problematic? What happened to 'live and let live' or 'don't like, don't read'?
Living in America is so bleak. Every other post on my dash is asking me to donate to someone or other to help them cover their bills. And they're all Americans.
Literal shithole country. I hate living here, what the fuck.
Even with John stating outright that she's conventially attractive, I still picture Lilith as looking more like Jeff the Killer than Morticia Addams, lmao.
Scrolling through the Malevolent tag and I'm so happy to see that Kayne is so many people's favorite character. I love him so much. (John is my close second favorite).
With Antoine following in third—
I think the thing I like best about John and Arthur's dynamic is Arthur's fundamental inhumanness vs John's humanity.
