Part two

Rhaenyra watched from the balconey as her sweet boy, her Lucerys, stood before the Cannibals large, scared muzzle, talking to him. She had forbidden him from flying until his new riding leathers had been made. He'd had complete control over what they looked like though and a part of her had ached when she saw the design he had sketched out for the leather worker, the blacksmith, and the tailor.

A dragonglass breastplate with a singular golden-white scale over his heart, with thick, dyed black leather straps. The leather, he'd requested, would have to be nearly three times thicker than any of the others riding leathers, padded with dyed rabbit fur. A thick black cloak that would almost completely hide what he wore underneath, with the inside made of soft, dyed, rabbit fur.

But the scariest part, to her, was the spine. Lucerys had left for the day and returned with the black bone spine of a dragonet and asked for it to be attached to his armor to protect his own, more delicate, spine.

She watched as her son was turned inside out from the death of Arrax and his subsequent claiming of the Cannibal, and her hatred for Aemond grew. If Lucerys hadn't have claimed his and Vhagar's death as his own her and Daemon would have done it. Well, if they made it their first.

Jacaerys had been furious, based on the letter he'd sent, as had Lord Cregan Stark, who swore to her and her sons. He had begged Rhaenyra, first as a son then as the Queens heir and finally as a brother, but she refused. She needed him in Winterfell to plan with Cregan.

But part of her wondered if she should send Lucerys to him. He and Jacaerys had always been close and maybe being together would help him heal over the loss of Arrax.

Lucerys packed light, since Cannibal had refused to allow a saddle to be placed on him. Only two extra sets of clothing, and some rations were placed in a rucksack for him to carry.

His riding leathers were pulled on last and he couldn't help but stare at himself in the mirror.

A black undershirt with a dragonclass breastplate, Arraxs singular scale resting above where his heart was. Black leather covered his legs, protecting the inside of his thighs and calves with fluffy black rabbit fur poking out. Turning he was able to see the black bone spine running down his back.

But it was all hidden beneath the thick, hooded black cloak.

He looked intimidating, especially with the singular white streak that had earned him the moniker, The Strangers Son, dead eyes, and pale skin.

Earlier that morning, the Queen, his mother, had ordered him to head to Winterfell to join Jacaerys and Lord Cregan Stark to begin preparing Starks Army to march.

Leaving his room Lucerys found Rhaena waiting for him, looking worried for him.

"Are you well prepped? Jacaerys mentioned before he left that it was a long journey. And quite difficult for dragons since they don't like the cold," Rhaena said, only to falter. "Though I guess Cannibal might handle it differently."

"He will. I think he likes the cold."

"Really? That's odd." Rhaena and he made it down to the courtyard where everyone was waiting to say goodbye.

Daemon pulled him into a hug and murmured into his ear, "Just send a letter and I can have the bastards other eye."

"Thank you, Kepa."

Joff, Aegon, and Viserys all threw themselves into Lukes arms, begging him not to leave but he soothed them and reminded them that it was his duty to their Queen.

Rhaenyra gentle wrapped him in her arms, trembling slightly. "Come back to me, my sweet Luke."

"I will, My Queen. I promise."

Baela hugged him tightly and asked him to pass a message along to Jace, which he promised he would and Rhaena hugged him tightly. Tighter than she had last time.

They all let out noises of shock and surlrise when they turned and found Cannibal half inside the courtyard, watching them with glowing green eyes. Lucerys climbed up the sharp spikes of his side and settled at the base of his neck, tugging on the thick padded gloves before holding on tight to the closest spikes.

"Soves!"

With barely a sound, Cannibal took off, disappearing into the clouds with ease.

After so much heartbreak and angst on House of the Dragon (with much more to come). I just want some head canons that make me smile.

Here is one I have been holding on to for a while:

Daemon is an incredibly overprotective father but not for any of his blood kids. He is not worried about Rhaena or Baela, they are Laena’s daughters it is more likely that they choose their love interest and they will most likely call all the shots.

In contrast Daemon is incredibly worried about Jace, Luke, and even Joff. They are all so pretty and charming. They take after Rhaenyra so much, and while he loves Rhaenyra he knows what she got up to when she was young. He also knows that what happened between him and Rhaenyra when she was young is not something he would want happening to his boys. He absolutely doesn’t want some roguish man coming in and kissing his boys in brothels offering to take them as their spouse.

Daemon has never felt more stressed when his family meets Viserys’ Hightower brats and he sees the way they look at his boys. He has multiple heart attacks when he sees the one eyed brat (Aemond) and the drunk lecher (Aegon) make eyes at his sweet stepsons. He very much wants to take Aemond’s other eye for the way he is looking at Luke and punch Aegon in the mouth for the way he is smirking at Jace. He can’t deal with this he is going to lock his stepsons up on Dragonstone until they are 50 or until the Hightower brats die whichever comes first.

Daemon has never felt like such a hypocrite. He swears that Viserys has somehow orchestrated all of this to get back at him for the brothel incident ….. and possibly the wedding incident too. At least Daeron is away in Old Town away from Joffrey……… Until Viserys brings him back to the Red Keel to torture his brother. King Viserys has so few amusements and seeing Daemon slowly go bald from seeing these roguish princes of the realm try to seduce his children is the best gift he has ever received. He can die happy now knowing Daemon’s karma has come at last.

You know what I want to see, a pirate, or Arena fighter or dragonkeeper or any kind of 'man' job reader with yandere hotd, like I like the trope of reader being sweet and nice but that's overused, I NEED BADASS READER WHO CAN AND WILL FIGHT THE TARGARYENS FOR HER FREEDOM OR CAN KEEP UP WITH THEIR VIOLENT TENDENCIES. Anyways, one of my favourite interactions in 1.06 is Lucerys asking ‘father’ to hold Joffrey and both Laenor & Harwin reacting without hesitation.

desperately want a hotd fix it fic where Rhaenyra’s kids all look Targaryen and everyone gets a long and Rhaenyra and Alicent are friends and everyone is happy and there are rainbows

Crying over the fact that Aemma had a daughter and then lost 5 sons/children and Rhaenyra had 5 sons and then lost her daughter.

Literally sobbing my eyes out after rewatching episode 8 and the episode 9 trailer. Like Rhaenyra left Kings Landing thinking that she and Alicent were mending their relationship and on the path to being civil and possibly friends again, and then Viserys gorks it and Alicents going to have Aegin crowned and my heart can’t take it. Also the seen where Rhaenyra and Daemon introduced Viserys to little Aegon and baby Viserys was wholesome and sad and heartbreaking and I hate feelings. And Helaena and Jace were adorable too.

I'm genuinely weirded out by team black fans that are so obsessed with the whole team Nyra vs team Aegon war that they feel bad for liking a character from an opposing faction.

Like those who say shit like:

"Oh Haelena is adorable! She's the ONLY green I like ^⁠_⁠^"

Or

"Aemond is such a hot and interesting character 😍. But g-guys I'm still 100% team Rhae Rhae don't worry about it!"

Bro why are you saying it like it's a bad thing?We're not actually living in Westeros. You won't be thrown in the black cells for treason or something.

I'm personally team green ftw but that doesn't make me feel bad for liking a lot of black characters! It's quite shocking that a lot of fans don't get this. You would enjoy this show a lot more if you stopped mindlessly hating on your "enemies".

Guuys i'm back! And with the finest team black arguments in town! Today our contestant is:

"Alicent is an evil bitch for trying to expose Rhaenyra's sons as bastards, she could have gotten them killed!"

This one is surprisingly popular amongst the blacks, but unsurprisingly dumb. And I'll say why:

First things first, can someone explain to me the reason behind everyone's belief that the strong boys would be killed for this? They are just kids, who took no part in Rhaenyra's lies regarding their legitimacy. The poor children actually believed they were Laenor's sons! (Well except Jace but whatever.)

The real culprits in this mess are their parents, who willingly had them while being fully aware that if exposed on their bs they would be punished. The boys wouldn't be harmed at all, the worst thing that would happen to them would be losing the Velaryon family name, becoming Waters, and getting kicked off the line of succession.

Sucks for them but definitely better that a sword in the neck.

Speaking of their parents. Nyra would have to be disinherited for attempting to put her baseborns on the throne, cheating on her spouse and generally bringing so much shame to the royal family.

Sucks for her too, but you know, reap what you sow girl. You knew the risks.

The one who would actually face serious consequences would be Harwin, for sleeping with the princess and all. Normally he would probably have to be executed, but not before being given the chance to take the black, which he would definitely pick.

So yeah, sucks for you sure, but you keep your head, your dick, and only lose your inheritance. Lmao on second thought this would be a better alternative for him, Larys wouldn't have to kill him to inherit, and he'd be freezing his ass on the wall instead of burning it in Harrenhall.

Happy ending for Lord Strong.

And with that said Alicent would not be causing the deaths of innocent kids and would be able to secure the future reign of her son, so why exactly would that make her an evil selfish bitch? When has trying to avoid your children's inevitable execution at the hands of their half sister been a bad thing?

Team black only really wants Ali to bend over and die, just so that their feminist queen can take over lol. They unironically demand a woman to give up all her agency for someone else, how progressive of them.

Funny how I made this long ass post explaining how Nyra would have to face the consequences of her actions for once in her life but obviously this would only happen in an au where Vizzy was an actual competent king who didn't just live to give his "only child" all that she asks him to.

In our timeline he would just keep denying their bastardry and cutting tongues of all who disagree. And if it became impossible for him to deny reality anymore, he would immediately pardon Nyra and Harwin and legitimize the Strongs, then promptly pretend that nothing happened. It would be infuriating, but also hilariously bad ngl.

I really don't understand why people are going after Jace/Sara because of Baela and how she would react to their relationship.

First of all we're not even sure Sara is going to be in hotd 2 in the first place, since her affair with Jacaerys is not something we are certain actually happened, yet people are hating on her as if she were 100% in the show and it's dumb.

Don't say a character doesn't exist in the story and then hate on it as if it did, you're just exposing your insecurities lmao.

Second even if they get together next season Baela and Jace are never going to get married anyway,as we all now he's going to kick the bucket before they're wed.

Had the show shown them being cute together, developing a crush on one another and talking about how they are looking forward to their wedding then I would have understood the hate and mayybe I would have agreed that adding Sara would only ruin the ship and piss off the fans.

But it doesn't happen!

They barely talk, and Jace apologizes to Baela before dancing with Helaena. Some would argue that he defended her against Aegon's shitty comments but that's something anyone with a braincell would do.

That's it.

At least Sara would add to Jace's character. He could bond with another bastard, we could get his inner thoughts regarding his mother and her affair with his dad, we could see her showing him around Winterfell while he rides his dragon!

If well made this could potentially be super interesting and finally make me care about one of Rhaenyra's kids.

His marriage with her could also represent a sort of wake up call for Rhaenyra.

Damn she would finally realise that her actions have consequences! That teaching your sons that they are inherently superior to everyone else because they are Targaryens and the rules don't apply on them has consequences!

She didn't abide by the rules cause she was daddy's little princess who could do no wrong and was almost never called out on it, now she would have to come to the realization that this affected her son, who now also thinks he can break his marriage pact and get with whoever he pleases, without getting shit for it.
