Persona 5 Strikers understands my urge to beat the shit out of something that symbolizes a cop
Headcanoning Persona 5 characters Mariokart mains, because I'm funny and I have way too much time to think about dumb things
Ren mains Shy Guy, usually green because he loves Kakyoin from JJBA. Mute City F-Zero is also his favorite Mariokart 8 track because of this.
Ryuji once said "I bet Ann plays Princess Peach", and Ann was so offended by the assumption that every time she intentionally takes Bowser before Ryuji can, so he has to pick his second favorite (Donkey Kong) instead. She doesn't even dislike Peach necessarily, she just never played Peach and was feeling petty.
Now, technically Ryuji could always just pick Dry Bowser- but unfortunately for him, Makoto always picks Dry Bowser, so he has no choice but to pick Bowser Jr, and he would rather just keep Donkey Kong.
Akechi doesn't really play Mariokart unless he's roped in by the group, so he never really had a main. The others kept throwing out suggestions for him to pick, and he kept shooting them down for various contrived reasons, only giving in because Futaba was the loudest and most obnoxious one shouting "Pick Yoshi". That's the day he became the Yoshi main.
Yusuke mains King Boo, and was extremely baffled and confused when Futaba blurted out "only sluts play King Boo" (Ann couldn't help but laugh at that).
Futaba would only play either Luigi or Waluigi, depending on her mood. Either way, she's a memelord about it.
Haru would be Daisy, because she's iconic and also they're very similar. Makoto pointed it out and Haru has picked Daisy every time ever since.
Morgana always picks Mario, but not just any Mario. Specifically Tanooki Mario. Everyone gave him a look, but he acted like this was perfectly normal behavior. If anyone brings up the resemblance, he will get extremely defensive.
Sumire almost exclusively played Rosalina, until one day she decided to pick Toadette out of nowhere. The group was kind of surprised, and she explained that she thinks it's cute, and never went back.
Zenkichi keeps refusing to play, and only gives in because Sumire is a sweetheart who suggests that he match her and pick Toad. He does, and it's funny as hell.
And finally, Sophia would pick Princess Peach, specifically Cat Peach with the pink car because it matches the colors. Before that she was just going to make a Mii of herself reluctantly, but Ann showed her Cat Peach and her eyes just lit up.
Basically:
Ren: Green Shy Guy
Ryuji: Bowser Donkey Kong
Ann: Bowser
Makoto: Dry Bowser
Akechi: Yoshi
Yusuke: King Boo
Futaba: (Wa)Luigi
Haru: Daisy
Morgana: Tanooki Mario
Sumire: Rosalina Toadette
Zenkichi: Toad
Sophia: Cat Peach
Realized something so funny about Yusuke while playing Strikers.
1. He suggests that the Phantom Thieves go to Kyoto on their vacation because he really wants an art tour, and he immediately gets vetoed. They then plan a barbecue, and he gets excited for that but then plans change when the Metaverse returns and they go on their road trip, so he gets deprived of that too. But every single time their vacation gets brought up he acts like these things are going to happen. "What about our Kyoto excursion" "our barbecue extravaganza" he is in his own little world where the Thieves listen to him. They actually do eventually go to Kyoto and he STILL doesn't get his art tour.
2. Zenkichi tells them that Alice Hiiragi went to the same school as the Thieves and Yusuke pipes up like "SHE WENT TO KOSEI HIGH??" Even though he is the only member of the Thieves who didn't go to Shujin Academy.
3. The scene where they discuss how they're going to go on their road trip without a vehicle and he announces that he has money like it's HIS MOMENT. Like it's the moment he's been waiting for his whole life, and Futaba responds "keep your snack money, Inari". Later he makes a comment about how he's gone from "rags to riches".
Every single case of this he gets the dramatic cut-in thing, so what I'm saying is Yusuke is convinced he's the main character through all of Strikers. Like he goes through the motions assuming the world will bend at his whimsy and the other Thieves just sigh and move on.
I cannot help but find this one detail in Strikers endlessly funny. The game introduces Sophia and it's all like "What is Sophia's power? Is it a persona?? Keep playing to find out :3" and it's obviously going to be some kind of reveal or mystery they solve. I haven't finished the game yet, so I still don't know- but the point is her "Persona" skills and gameplay mechanics are the same as the other actual personas, which is an obvious plot hole that leaves no room for a reveal. So you would think that the game would come up with some serious sensical way to rectify this right?
Wrong, they literally just- slap a question mark at the end of all her Persona skills and call it a day.
It's "Dia?" because we think it's Dia, since it works the same, so let's just call it Dia and stop asking questions. It's so funny though from a gameplay perspective, because they could have just left it alone and hoped nobody would question it, but instead they put in the effort to put that little reminder that it's not confirmed to be a persona- but also want the ability to integrate her into the framework seamlessly. They were like "we can't have our cake and eat it too? Watch us" and then did exactly that.
RIP Yusuke's Kyoto excursion/barbecue extravaganza
He wants that barbecue so effing bad 😭
I've always thought that I would thank atlus for a lot of things like good gameplay and story and an amazing character that I love so much cough cough goro akechi but I never thought that I would have to thank them for making me realize that I am dyslexic cuz you remember that false god that took Igor's place during persona 5 yeah turns out I've been saying his name and reading it wrong the whole time and I found out when I finally played persona 5 myself 6 years after I discovered persona 5 I had a whole breakdown about literally not knowing that I was saying this fake God's name wrong the whole time for 6 years straight and my mom had the audacity to be like oh yeah I knew you were dyslexic I just didn't have you tested
I think akechi SHOULD get a redemption Arc sometimes I feel like the fandom forgets that despite everything he was a child while doing this he wasn't mature enough to make such big decisions as murder and no adults around him were helping him and he was all alone with this anger boiling inside of him and although I do relate and sympathize with him I do think he should apologize to characters like haru and futaba but in my mind I don't think he regrets all his actions I think he more regrets the effects of his actions and he needs to live with that and I think his whole relationship with the protagonist is what would drive him to get this redemption arc because the protagonist understands him and that's what's special about the relationship and that's why people ship them so much. The protagonist and Akechi are the same person it's just the protagonist had the rest of the phantom thieves and Goro had no one until he met the protagonist and he made his decision and he's lying with the bed he made. His mom died his father abandoned him before he was even born he was in the foster care system and later on getting used by his father and he ended up dying alone but however with the knowledge that he would not be forgotten by the one person who truly knew him who carried a piece of him. Goro akechi is a deep character and I think Atlus did an amazing job in fleshing out his character and I do hope they may do more of that as a fan but if goro were not to come up again I think I'd be content. There's so much discussions you can have about his character and technically none of it's right and none of it's wrong the only things right is what's solidly said in the game but we don't know if that's actual fact because goro is known to have masks like how his whole detective Prince persona was fake even in royal him what if he was just playing a character trying to get the protagonist to finally accept that he needs to let him go to move on with his life and I think that's what persona 5 strikers symbolize it's the protagonist moving on from losing someone who understands him much more than his friends and knows him in a way that he doesn't let anybody else. Although he is not directly mentioned in strikers there's definitely illusions to him especially when they are talking about shido with zenkichi and how they've all been through this kind of thing before. It's just displays how deep that their relationship was together and I'm not just talking in like a romantic way since I ship them it's just they were pitted against each other by a god let that sink in A GOD who decided he wanted to play games with humanity pitted these two people against each other they were meant to be rivals they were meant to understand each other. And like akechi himself said if they met up years before maybe even just a month before all that happen could have been different. Anyway thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Why did you have to name it “Throbbing King of Desire”
It looks like whole peen (and i guess that was intentional)
